All wrapped up in the snow on the way to uni! |
- Invest in a good and large bag - currently you might only need a purse, pen and paper but soon enough you're going to be carrying your weight in textbooks and food.
- Think carefully about your hemlines - It's a no-brainer that sitting makes your dress or skirt slide up your legs for all the world to see but also remember that you'll be quickly standing up and also climbing stairs which can often be an embarrassing sight.
- Wear comfortable shoes -Your bus is going to be late. You're going to have way too much breaktime forcing you to walk around town. You're going to face every weather condition possible. Simple.
- Knit up! - It's going to be freezing standing at that bus stop so don't forget your hat, scarf, gloves, Ugg boots, triple layer tights and thick cardigans! The sight of your bus emerging from the dark is going to be the best sight you ever saw.
- Keep entertained - ALWAYS remember your headphones and/or a magazine. You never know how long you will be waiting in traffic, for the bus or for your lecture.
- Learn the bus timetable - You should be able to catch the bus at the correct time in your sleep.
- Think economically - I'm not going to lie - commuting costs a fortune. Invest in student tickets and bring your own food before your costs spiral out of control.
- Try to work on the bus. - Even if it's a little reading before a lecture, it's going to help.
- Always arrive early. - Even though you want to, you cannot use the excuse 'my bus was late'. If you get to uni an hour early, use your time wisely with your textbooks and magazines.
- Finally.. just relax! -I find that commuting is really relaxing because it gives me a change to switch off from uni and homelife. It's also great thinking and planning time for yourself.
