S/S 2012 - Marc By Marc Jacobs

Marc By Marc Jacobs has always been a favourite of mine. As a teenager buying TeenVogue instead of UK teen magazines, I always used to pick out the label's pieces as my favourites without looking at the designer.  I think it was the youthful yet design-forward pieces that attracted and still attracts my attention. For the last three seasons I have watched the MBMJ show live on marcjacobs.com religiously. Family members are pre-warned, my macbook is pre-charged and all of my friends are sent the link but this time, it was being shown at 1:30am UK time and it was date night!

At 6:30am, I vaguely remember trying to navigate the Style.com app only to fall asleep holding my iPhone.  At 8am I was awake again and I managed to find a youtube video of the whole show!  Rejoice!



My first thought was that I adored the 'pop' of the shoes!

Sadly, my first thought about the clothes was that they were 'too simplistic' but after a re-watch I realised that Marc has taken classic shapes and given them a new lease of life through the neon orange, navy and neon green.  It all seems very futuristic, as if he has taken a leaf from Celine and made it youthful.

As the whole show progressed, prints had an appearance and more formal pieces came down the catwalk. The bird print is sure to be a big hit in the accessories line and I'm sure I'll be standing over the laptop case resisting the urge to splurge my uni loan.

Overall I think it is a fun collection for this fun label, I know I'll want to be skipping around in the jumpsuit next summer!  I'll leave you with the swimwear that is going to fly off the shelves in the Spring
