A week today, Kate Middleton (AKA Duchess of Cambridge) will be visiting my faculty building (Business and Law), at my university (DMU), in my home city (Leicester). Oh and The Queen and Prince Phillip.
To say I freaked out is kind of an understandment. Here's the chronological tweets concerning the royal visit. I found out about both pieces of Kate news on a packed bus in rush hour, it's amazing I didn't get sedated or something. Apparently my reaction was printed in the local paper though..
Unlike all of my friends and family, I'm a big fan of Kate and William because I think they show a great future for Britain and they do actually care about the people they meet (yes I'm looking at you the rest of the Royal family). Of course Kate is great for the UK fashion market but she's also a fantastic role model for all the young girls and women out there.
Yes I did cry at the Royal Wedding - but not at the actual ceremony, I cried when she got out of the car..
Back to DMU! Most of my time in the Hugh Aston business building when I'm not in lectures is spent in the Atrium which looks out onto the courtyard. This is where the Queen and Kate will watch a fashion show on Thursday! Over the course of today, I watched the builders build a huge marquee in the courtyard (with blue carpet!), project managers run around with clipboards and cleaners scrub everything in sight. Chaos!
The big question is, 'will I go and see the royal visit?'. Of course I will! Although it does mean I will have to wait in the cold for four-five hours.... and find someone willing to wait with me..
In the meantime, here's a video from DMU about the visit and an exciting chance to see the vending machines where I sit in the Atrium!
