I Heart 2011

Posted on 06:35 by Unknown
If you told me this time last year that the year ahead would be even better than 2010 I would have told you that it was impossible.  Whilst 2010 changed my life for the better, 2011 was about living in the moment and doing things I dream about doing.

2011 was the year I finally became a redhead and found a guy that tolerates my endless babbling about fashion, TV shows and my love of all things geek.  I also took a solo trip to London which was more liberating than daunting and managed to keep a 7 hour secret that my best friend was about to get engaged (so much harder than it sounds!). Obviously there have been some low points, mostly centred around all assignments (eight!) being due in the space of one week and the crippling cold and flu of November but with my best friends around I JUST managed to pull through. This was also the year I was to be hopelessly addicted to every TV show I watched with Chuck, Downton Abbey, The Rachel Zoe Project, Big Bang Theory, Happy Endings and of course New Girl being added to my weekly list. Bridesmaids, 50/50 and One Day dominated my favourite 2011 film choices and I finally watched and enjoyed The Dark Knight!  Fashion wise I tried to curb the spending but the subscription of Vogue, Elle and ASOS Premier made sure that my wardrobe stayed a little fresher with the purchase of wedges that are comfy to run in and a gorgeous black fitted Topshop dress that needs to be worn regularly because it is so damn amazing.

So what does 2012 bring?  Sitting here now I'm apprehensive about what's going to happen but I know that it'll be filled with smiles, red and falling over a million times.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Memorable moments this year.

I cried as soon as she got out of the car.  Knew I should have put some money on McQueen the day the engagement was announced.
Possibly my favourite red carpet moment of the year, totes cried at their speeches.

Two weeks ago I got addicted to Downton Abbey and I've never looked back.  Mary is totes my favourite character.   Mary & Matthew <3

Inspiration for my hair colour

The hilarious Jenna Marbles is my current favourite you tuber.  Seriously GO WATCH!

Ditto the beautiful Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 show.

I'm still addicted to Gossip Girl, more specifically Dan & Blair!
My favourite musical of the year.  I was a wreck after.

Dakota Fanning covering Elle UK makes me swoon

Posted on 10:21 by Unknown

Seriously how pretty is this?! Possibly one of my favourite photos ever.  I'm so inspired by the Fanning sisters right now, expect an inspiration post in the new year filled with W Magazine photos and those from TeenVogue which Elle Fanning is covering next month.  Ahh it's like a perfect fashion end to the year even though it's the February issue..

What happens in London.. ends up on the blog (Day one)

Posted on 05:41 by Unknown
It's the day after my return from London to gloomy and rainy Leicester and so far I'm coping with the withdrawal symptoms with a little help from Elle Magazine.  As usual it was a pretty eventful trip so I figured I'd share it with you..

Tuesday 27th December

My chosen reading vs Tom's reading..
After a stress free train trip reading Company magazine,  we dragged the suitcases over to the Piccadilly Theatre to grab some last minute Ghost tickets.  To our dismay it was closed, had a late opening time and we'd had a wasted journey.  Little did I know it was about to get worse.  After unpacking my suitcase (also known as putting everything everywhere) and getting into sale war mode, disaster struck - I managed to trip over the swivel chair with my right foot, and ravel my left foot into the bed duvet causing my back to do a weird double twist and everything else to fly to the floor.  It was all slow motion - the capitulating of my iPhone and lipstick and the complete fear that i wouldn't make it to Oxford Street and to the sales.  Terrifying.  The final result of my tumble was a messed up back which continues to plague me and a worried Tom who mistook the red stains of my lipstick on the chair that I fell on for blood.

Christmas decorations on Carnaby Street
Louis Vuitton staircase
All cleared up and rearing to go we hot footed it back to Ghost for cheap seats (yay!), to Oxford Street where we mumbled insults at slow walkers, tourists and people that bring prams to the Selfridges sale and to Garfunkels near the Palladium for a huge portion of hot hot hot hot hot pasta - yummy!  A pattern started emerging as we went down Oxford street and through Mayfair to Marc By Marc Jacobs, I was getting more depressed as I didn't buy anything in any of the stores.  As a remedy, we walked down New Bond Street and I was dragged into Louis Vuitton by Tom to cheer me up.  OH.  SO.  PRETTY.  For those that haven't been, go in!  It's all sorts of pretty with luggage trunks placed on shelves high above you and moving displays with the latest in bags and small leather goods.  Even though we felt so out of place it was still a great experience and so was Mulberry which I was also 'dragged' into.  Apparently my eyes light up when I stare at Mulberry.  It was in Mulberry when I remembered my £25 gift card for Kurt Geiger.  A quick iPhone check lead us there and I ended up buying beautiful red wedges in the sale that I had been eyeing up for months.

A quick change (into the beautiful shoes) and we were on the way to Ghost.  Having seen it before I figured I wouldn't cry.  How wrong I was - I was a complete wreck and couldn't stop crying even on the way out of the theatre!  Even though we had the very back row centre tickets we still saw everything and still were amazed by the astonishing effects, powerful voices of Caissie and Richard and obviously the emotion.  Sob.   The evening ended with chinese food back at the hotel from Wong Sei in Chinatown which is probably the best chow main I have ever had.

Boxing Day Rush

Posted on 01:46 by Unknown
Merry Christmas and happy boxing day! I hope you all had a beautiful christmas and santa brought you everything wish for. Our house was the centre of the Christmas festivities which included traditions such as quiz teams, playing wii and eating all the chocolate strawberries myself!

Tomorrow I'm off to London for a much needed break and that all important sale shopping! But more importantly and urgent is the fact that I can't work out which outfits to take! Disaster! Expect many posts about sale wars in over the next few days - I may be small but I shall be victorious!

I leave you with a photo of the best part of my Christmas day outfit..

The adorkable dog

Posted on 11:12 by Unknown
This is Frankie, our 3 year old King Charles/Cocker Spaniel.  He LOVES attention and sitting on the arm of the sofa watching the people in the street.  His favourite food is whatever you are eating, cabbage and sausage rolls.  He likes to play with his toy duck, ball and the inner roll from wrapping paper.

More Frankie?  Hit read more!

Yesterday I discovered Gabrielle Aplin on a list of people to watch in 2012 and my curiosity lead me to Youtube...

Did you hit replay as many times as I did?  I just know I'm going to adore her album.

2011LOVE: Roses at the train station

Posted on 12:11 by Unknown
After a depressing train ride home from my solo visit to London, I was SO glad to be greeted at the train station by the boyfriend who was carrying a beautiful bunch of roses.  He even agreed to carry my stupid amount of bags.  There may have been a little tear..

2011LOVE: LondonFashionWeekend show bag and purchases

Posted on 12:01 by Unknown
As part of my ticket I decided to get the show bag because well..  why not?!  I got a pleasant surprise and did not expect so many full size products.  I especially didn't expect the Karl Lagerfeld Diet Coke bottle that I had been admiring for a while! The coffee and the eyelashes managed to go to a good home and the makeup wipes were perfect because I had just ran out!   I'll definitely be getting the show bag again next year for two reasons - I definitely need more shopping bag room and it's going to be designed by Holly Fulton!  Yay!
My post about London Fashion Weekend can be found here
